Boherbue Comprehensive School defeated Coláiste An Chroí Naofa by 6-11 to 1-13 in the 2025/2026 TUS 91³Ô¹ÏÍø GAA PPS U15 Hurling Development Competition Final on Tuesday May 5th at Clyda Rovers GAA Club.

91³Ô¹ÏÍø Success for Boherbue CS

Boherbue Comprehensive School (BCS) and Colaiste Chraoi Naofa (CCN) met on Tuesday May 5th in the TUS 91³Ô¹ÏÍø U15 Hurling Development Competition.

CCN won the toss and decided to take advantage of the light breeze in the opening half. It was BCS that took the lead inside two minutes with a fine strike from Darragh Cronin on the halfway line. However, CCN got on top in the middle of the field through Daniel Ring and Joe Coughlan and took some excellent scores from distance, moving into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead after fifteen minutes.

Jack O’Neill (CCN) and Darragh Cronin (BCS) swapped points before BCS’s Shane O’Sullivan fired home one handed after a charging run from his centre back position. Just minutes later O’Sullivan, now repositioned at centre forward, pinged a pass to full forward Evan Biggane who levelled the game with a brilliantly taken goal leaving the score 2-2 to 0-8.

Chroi Naofa’s O’Neill quickly replied with a well taken point from the wing, but this was quickly cancelled out by Cathal Hegarty from midfield. From the next play CCN but together a fine passage of play leading to a goal from Jack O’Neill, bouncing the ball in front of, and then passed BCS goalkeeper Cian O’Connor. BCS’s Hegarty reduced the deficit to two with a free won by corner forward Cillian Corbett. The half ended with a long ball from the excellent CCN keeper, Carthach Kelleher inside the Boherbue thirteen metre line’. The loose ball eventually cleared by some brave defending by BCS wing backs Daniel Linehan and Sean O’Sullivan. With that the ref blew the half-time whistle, CCN taking a two-point advantage into the break, 1-9 to 2-4.

On the recommencement, it was BCS that commanded proceedings with the strong running Michael Farrissey quickly putting two goals past Kelleher following great work from midfielder Padraig O’Connell, and Shane O’Sullivan. CCN battled hard but could not penetrate a strong full backline of Daire O’Keeffe, Liam O’Sullivan and Captain Aidan Keohane. This led to some long-range shooting from CCN, some falling to O’Connor in goal whose radar was fixed all day on the 6’4†O’Sullivan at centre forward who had a hand in most of BCS’s second half scores, finding the net again himself late on.

Hegarty landed another placed ball after some dogged work by Conor O’Regan out on the wing. CCN’s Dara O’Connell took a fine point from halfway while his captain Joe Coughlan was denied by the upright. The game’s final score came from a thundering run by BCS’s O’Connell up the wing brushing off several CCN defenders before passing to Biggane who picked out corner forward Sean Dan Cahill to raise the white flag. Boherbue’s eye for goal proved the difference on the day, winning out on a scoreline of 6-11 to 1-13 bringing the school its first 91³Ô¹ÏÍø hurling title.

Boherbue Comprehensive School and Ennistymon Community School served up a thrilling contest in the TUS Corn Éamainn Uí Mháirtín (Under 15 C Football) Final, played at TUS Midwest on April 16th, 2026.

Boherbue Comprehensive School started the strongest of the two getting off to a great start scoring a goal and two points within the first ten minutes of the game, but Ennistymon answered back levelling matters with a great kick passing game. The game was a back and forth affair from then on with the two teams trading scores before Ennistymon Community school got a purple patch right before halftime giving them an eight point lead at the halftime break.

Boherbue, once again starting strong getting a score from the throw in and kept fighting bravely to chip away at the Ennistymon lead getting a few more scores on the board. Ennistymon converted some more chances right before Boherbue enjoyed a purple patch of their own, getting some more scores including a goal from a penalty, followed by a goal from open play that saw Boherbue lead by three points going into the final five minutes of the game.

A few missed opportunities of scores for Boherbue almost proved detrimental to their chances of winning the game as Ennistymon carried the ball down right in front of the Boherbue goal before being taken down for a penalty that was then converted, levelling the game going into the last thirty seconds of the game. Boherbue got their hands on the ball moving it well into their forward line before slotting over a point on the last kick of the game to give them the one point victory.

At the final whistle in TUS Midwest, it finished Boherbue Comprehensive School 4‑10 Ennistymon Community School 3‑12, the result of a superbly contested final that kept everyone on edge to the very end.

Great credit to both sides who had to brave the wintry elements to serve up a good game of football in a final which had to be switched from Banagher in Offaly due to an unplayable pitch. From the start Ballinrobe looked the sharper in front of the posts and their defence was solid too.

Maura Hughes kicked the first score of the game after three minutes. Both sides had plenty of possession but the next score didn’t arrive until the 14th minute when Chloe Stagg fired over a free for Ballinrobe. St. Anne’s soaked up the pressure and got their first score in the 18th minute when Roisin Carew kicked a fine point.

At the other end Stagg kicked two more frees to put three between the sides in the 22nd minute. One minute later Hughes passed the ball to Kate Brennan and she buried the ball to the net to extend the lead to six points.

Chloe O’Neill got a much needed point for St. Anne’s in the 26th minute. Just before the break Carew kicked her second point from a free to leave four between them at 1-4 to 0-3.

In the first minute of the second half Ballinrobe had a goal chance but Emily Hughes shot straight at Anne’s keeper Caoiinn Grogan. St. Anne’s had chances to get more scores on the board but two frees were caught on the line by the Ballinrobe defence.

Two more frees from the boot of Stagg and a good point from Hughes extended Ballinrobe’s lead to seven after 49 minutes of play. St. Anne’s struggled to get scores and needed a goal, which they couldn’t get. Carew converted a free in the 51st minute their first and what turned out to be their only score of the second half.

Substitute Tara Fitzpatick kicked a fine point in the 52nd minute for Ballinrobe and four minutes later the Mayo school got their second goal through substitute Ursula Shaughnessy. Ballinrobe captain Ali Hughes got up at the end to fire over a point to seal a fine win for her school.

St. Brendan’s Killarney defeated. St. Flannan’s College Ennis by 2-16 to 2-7 in the TUS Corn an Bhráthar Choilm Taft (Under 15 A Football) Final on Wednesday March 11th at TUS Moyish.

St. Brendan’s 2-16 v 2-7 St. Flannan’s, Ennis

This game was played in great spirit between two colleges who have a rich tradition at this age grade.

St. Flannan’s started the game in dramatic fashion with a thundering goal from lively full forward Robert Pelzar. The Sem struggled to get to grips with the blustery conditions but, after an outstanding kick from Seán Quill raised the orange flag for a two pointer, they began to find their rhythm.

The elements continued to play their part as Flannan’s found scores difficult to come by, especially as Eoin Brosnan got to grips with the ever-effective Pelzar. At the other end, the Sem were now in full swing, with a flurry of points from Patrick MacSweeney putting the Sem ahead for the first time in the game at 0-5 to 1-1. The Sem finished the half in dominant form with further scores from Patrick O’Connor and Max Moynihan leaving the score at 0-11 to 1-1 at the interval.

Flannan’s began the second half, now with the aid of the elements at their back, with a well taken 2 pointed free to reduce the deficit to 5 points. However, the composure of St. Brendan’s took control with Darragh Fleming and Kieran Moloney having a greater influence at midfield.

In the next 10-minute period, patient play from the Sem led to a couple of valuable points to keep Flannan’s at bay. A couple of quick-fire goals followed for Danny Healy, which settled any nerves that may have still been lingering and the Sem finished out the match in determined fashion. Gerry Moroney made some exceptional saves coming down the stretch but was beaten by a well taken penalty at the death. This was, however, to prove too little too late for a rallying Flannan’s and the Sem ended victorious on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-7.

Collectively, the Sem defended with unending determination, being led by captain and Man of the Match candidate Eoin Brosnan. Darragh Fleming and Kieran Moloney worked tirelessly at midfield and the forward line added the finishing touches in a style that has served St. Brendan’s so well over the years.

A special mention to Mr. Ed O’Neill who gave up so much of his time to help this team throughout the year. His vast experience proved invaluable to all involved.

ST. JOSEPH’S, BORRISOLEIGH 2-17 COLÃISTE NAOMH CORMAC, KILCORMAC 2-12

Report By Kevin Egan at Borrisokane for GAA.ie

Nature has all of it’s own signs that Summer is coming, but it felt like Summer arrived in style this afternoon in Borrisokane where the sun shone, the crowds supporting St. Joseph’s and Coláiste Naomh Cormac turned out in force, and the players rounded off the occasion by producing a marvellous sporting occasion, one that culminated in St. Joseph’s of Borrisoleigh claiming the Michael Cusack Cup for the first time in the school’s history.

A historic occasion will live long in the memory for the manner of the game too, where St. Joseph’s had the best of things for the entire first half and they finished strongly with four points in a row, but Coláiste Naomh Cormac (CNC) – bidding to win their third All-Ireland senior schools title in five years – came like a train for a 10 minute spell midway through the second half, coming from ten points down to trail by one with little over five minutes remaining.

Throw in being delayed by five minutes to allow the crowd to make their way into the North Tipp venue showed the interest, and within 60 seconds of the game getting underway, the first massive roar of the day came when Cody Quirke blocked down an attempted pass from James McLoughlin in the CNC goal lifting and striking to the net from close range.

The first half was a story of St. Joseph’s producing thoughtful, efficient hurling that was executed with accuracy and skill, while CNC produced chances, but failed to convert enough of them into scores. St. Joseph’s deployment of a sweeper worked in their favour as they slowed down the ball coming out of the Offaly school’s backline, while at the other end CNC struggled to make it stick, instead having to try for scores from distance.

There were classy points at either end from Jack Dunican, Mairtín Ryan, Eoin Ryan, Quirke and Michael Ryan, but when it came to the goals, Cody Quirke and Michael Ryan were on target with their efforts while James Hennessy fired his penalty into the foot of the post.

Add in a first half wide count of eight to three with CNC guilty of the larger share, and a 2-8 to 0-5 deficit on a perfectly calm day looked substantial.

Fast forward 15 minutes into the second half and the lead was now ten, with two more glorious CNC goal chances having gone askew.

The angle looked too tight when Hennessy won a hard ball in the left corner and went to slam it into the roof of the net but once the twine danced, there was hope.

60 seconds later Lochlann Fletcher played an inviting pass across the middle that Mairtín Ryan flicked to the net, and there was a game on.

By now Luke Bracken, James Dooley and Fiachra Carroll were dominating the middle and a series of treacherous deliveries were sent into the St. Joseph’s goalmouth, but time and again Oisín Ryan and Daniel Groome made the catch or the batted clearance to keep their goal intact.

Aaron Screeney knocked over a couple of points to reduce the lead to the bare minimum but there was to be a final kick in St. Joseph’s, enough to see them home.

Team captain Micheál Collins landed a high pressure 65, Shane Ryan nailed a couple of frees and split the uprights from a tricky angle on the left hand side, and Cusack Cup was theirs.

And for everyone lucky enough to be there, Summer was up and running.

Mount Sion CBS 3-18 Scoil Aireagail, Ballyhale 2-19

After Extra Time

“Up the Monastery!” roared Mount Sion CBS captain Bradley Penkert after he lifted the Niall McInerney Cup in the New Ross sunshine on Saturday afternoon.

Tommy Kennedy, Jack Teat, Aaron Coughlin and James Hurley played starring roles as Sion prevailed in an extra time epic with Scoil Aireagail from Ballyhale.

All Ireland minor medallist Kennedy shot 2-3 from play including an extra time goal to clinch victory. Scoil Aireagail captain Adam Franks, son of former Offaly hurler David, scored 1-14 but finished on the losing side.

The Waterford school trailed by three points entering injury time of normal time before top scorer Jack Teat stepped up and buried a 61st minute free to the bottom corner. Teat ended the afternoon with a total of 1-9. Tommy Kennedy had two late chances to win it but sent one wide and one short before referee Jimmy Heavey blew the final whistle (1-17 to 2-14).

Points from Teat and all action midfielder James Hurley edged Sion 2-16 to 1-18 ahead by half time of extra time. Liam O’Grady levelled the match for the tenth occasion two minutes into the second period. Kennedy then won a free which Teat converted. In the 75th minute, Teat sent Kennedy away on a solo run and the number thirteen shook the top corner of the net. Substitute Alfie Ryan stretched the lead to five (3-18 to 1-19).

The drama didn’t end there however as Cian Franks raised a green flag from a late free for Scoil Aireagail. Aaron Coughlin made a couple of big catches as the boys in blue held firm in the closing moments. Mount Sion subs, mentors and supporters invaded the pitch at the end of an enthralling encounter.

By Deniese O’Flaherty

A superb display from full-forward Caoimhe McMahon helped St. John Bosco from Kildysart in Clare claim the Lidl All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Junior C title with victory over Salerno at St. Brigid’s GAA in Kiltoom.

McMahon was not just lethal in front of the posts but her all-round play was exceptional. St. John Bosco were clinical throughout and sharper; every player in their forward line was on the scoresheet. It was a valiant effort from Galway school Salerno who battled right to the end.

The Clare school made the perfect start to the game when they scored a goal in the second minute when Isabelle Garry’s shot landed in the net.

Caera McMahon followed up with a point. Orna Dunne got Salerno’s first point of the game in the fifth minute. Twice in the space of four minutes the Galway school closed the gap to two points but that was the closest they got to St. John Bosco.

With Caoimhe McMahon leading the charges St. John Bosco opened up a five point lead in the 18th minute. Salerno just couldn’t get scores and a free from Grace Coyle in the 23rd minute was gathered on the goal-line.

Aoibhín Keane forced Salerno keeper Sophia Curran into a good save in the 25th minute. Two more points from Caoimhe McMahon and a neat score from Kayla Kenny saw the Clare school hold a 1-9 to 0-3 lead at the break.

With less than 30 seconds gone on the clock in the second half Rachel Leyland got a point for Salerno, their first since the 11th minute. Despite that quick score St. John Bosco replied with three points in a row, all from Caoimhe McMahon.

Salerno, despite having an extra player for two spells due to sinbinnings, just could not get the goal they needed to mount a revival, even though they never gave up.

St. John Bosco were relentless and in the 53rd minute McMahon got a goal her performance deserved to stretch their lead further.

Substitute Firinne Walsh and the excellent Orna Dunne (free) got consolation scores at the end for Salerno but the Lidl All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Junior ‘C’ title is heading to Clare for 2026.

Injury-time Scahill point sees Mullingar edge out Tralee CBS in landmark Hogan Cup win

Masita All-Ireland PPS Hogan Cup Senior A football final: Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar 3-11 Tralee CBS 1-16

Will Scahill nailed a dramatic stoppage-time winning point as Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar made a little piece of Hogan Cup history at Croke Park.

Claiming a first-ever college football title for the school, it was also the first time since Carmelite College Moate won in 1981 that a Westmeath team has come out on top.

But when Gearóid White pointed for Tralee CBS in the 60th minute, capping a brilliant fightback after a disastrous start, it looked like it would be another All-Ireland win for a Kerry team.

The Mullingar students found their second wind when it really mattered, levelling the game through Finn Higgins in the 62nd minute and then claiming a memorable win when Scahill scored.

The Shandonagh man finished with 1-2, the same tally as player of the match Michael Moloney while Conor Cleary grabbed their other goal.

There was a big impact too from Paul Keating who scored three points as the midlanders capped a dream campaign with a huge win for Westmeath football.

Any lazy presumption that the cream of Kerry would rise above the Westmeath outfit to take top second-level honours was wiped out straight away.

The game was only seconds old when Will Scahill pointed for Mullingar and when Moloney created a goal chance, and took a point, they’d signposted their intentions to go for the jugular.

Scahill then struck their goal, slamming to the roof of the net in the third minute, before points from Stephen McWade and Paul Keating.

Big Críostóir Ormsby plucked a ball from the air to engineer the Keating score and suddenly the Mullingar side led by 1-4 to no score, with only five minutes on the clock.

It was dreamland stuff for manager Dean McNicholas, his backroom and all of their vocal support packed into the Hogan Stand.

Midfielder Máirtín McKivergan was the player that finally got Tralee going, powering into the game and dragging his team-mates along with him.

Four points from the Ballymacelligott talent, including a monster two-point free conversion, hauled the side in green right back into it.

The problem for Tralee was that Coláiste Mhuire kept scoring goals to keep themselves just out of reach.

Conor Cleary scored a cracking goal in the 15th minute, taking out Eoin O’Flaherty with a dummo solo and then Michael Enright with a sidestep before finishing sweetly.

Finn Higgins was the creator for their third goal just before half time, rolling away from defender Enright and passing across for Moloney to palm in.

It was a goal against the run of play that left Coláiste Mhuire 3-6 to 0-9 up at half time.

Tralee continued to pile on the pressure after the restart, dominating the third quarter to finally get back to level terms in the 47th minute.

Ronan Carroll’s third score of the half, from a free, was the one that levelled it up at 1-14 to 3-8 but McKenna’s 41st minute goal was the score that really ignited them.

Tom Quilter fist-passed over the top for McKenna to run onto and he finished adroitly from the left of goals.

And when Nick Lacey finally put Tralee ahead for the first time in the game with a 54th minute point, they seemed to have all the momentum.

They led again entering stoppage time after White’s fisted score but Mullingar had saved a strong kick for the last lap, pointing from Higgins and then Scahill to seal the landmark win.

It took the very last kick of the game to settle it, but Mount St Michael are 91³Ô¹ÏÍø champions once more, claiming their first provincial title since 1996 and gaining revenge for the 2022 defeat to the same opposition.

Abbey CBS controlled possession for the opening 17 minutes pushing them into a 0-2 to 0-0 lead. But the MTSM lads gradually found their feet and started to win possession around the middle third. Scores were difficult to come by in a tense affair, but two Luke O’Neill frees in the 19th and 21st minutes brought Mount St Michael back on terms.

Ronan Hayes made it 0-3 apiece deep into first-half injury time, capping a tightly fought opening 30 minutes where defensive structures dominated.

At the start of the second half, Abbey CBS nudged ahead by a point. However, Luke O’Neill responded from play before Ronan Hayes scored a great a free on 36 minutes.

Abbey CBS did not give up and levelled matters with just two minutes remaining, setting up a dramatic finish. With the clock deep in injury time and extra-time looming, Dylan O’Neill stepped forward. From an angle and under immense pressure, he struck over what proved to be the decisive score, the final kick of the game to the roars of the hundred MTSM supporters in the stands.

Rosscarbery’s Blue and yellow flags waved happily and a title secured in dramatic fashion, built on resilience, tactical discipline, and nerve when it mattered most. It’s an All Ireland semifinal next against Connacht winners and excitement is building up once again in Rosscarbery with the match fixed for Saturday 28th February.

CLG Na Mumhan – Corn Uí Mhuirí

Aedín Ní Bhriain

Corn Uí Mhuirí – Cothromaíocht & bainistíocht ama go mór chun cinn a deir na bainisteoirí.

Imreoidh Scoil na mBráithre, An Fhaiche, Trá Lí agus Ardscoil na mBráithre Chluain Meala i gCluiche Ceannais Peile na n-Iarbhunscoileanna i gCúige Mumhan, TUS Corn Uí Mhuirí (faoi 19 A Peil) Dé Sathairn 7 Feabhra ag 1:30 i Mala, Co. Chorcaí.

Ag an bpreasócáid i dTUS Campas Mhaoilis Luimnigh le déanaí, bhí na bainisteoirí ag leagan béime ar an tábhacht a bhaineann le cothromaíocht i measc bhaill an phainéil agus iad ag druidim leis an ócáid ollmhór seo.

Tá 10 mbliana caite ó bhí Ardscoil Chluain Meala le feiceáil i gcluiche ceannais Corn Uí Mhuirí don uair dheireannach. Ina ainneoin sin, níl aon ghanntanas taithí i measc na n-imreoirí, dar lena mbainisteoir, Paddy Ó Gorman.

‘Bhí na lads go léir páirteach i gcluichí tábhachtacha eile roimhe seo i gcaitheamh na mblianta. Is grúpa tiomnaithe iad, a thosaigh ag traenáil i mí Lúnasa seo caite agus a rinne an cinneadh cúpla lá sa tseachtain a chaitheamh i mbun traenála roimh am scoile ag 7.30 ar maidin chun chun a bheith in ann an t-am a thabhairt do chursaí acadúla agus staidéir tar éis na scoile.’

Ar an gcaoi chéanna, mhol Marc Ó Sé, comhbhainisteoir Scoil na mBráithre, Trá Lí, a chuid imreoirí as a gcuid ama a bhainistiú agus as a dtiomantas cothromaíochta i mbliana.

‘Is é an chothromaíocht sin an rud is tábhachtaí. Tá siad dírithe ar an gcluiche, ach tá siad dírithe ar na leabhair freisin. Tá codladh maith, bia maith agus stíl shláintiúil mhaireachtála ríthábhachtach chomh maith. Bhí feachtas deas againn go dtí seo agus táimid ag tnúth go mór leis an gcluiche ceannais’

Tá meascán de bhaill phainéil a bhfuil taithí acu agus baill phainéil níos óige ag an dá fhoireann. Imríonn na lads i dTiobraid Ãrann iománaíocht ag leibhéal A, Corn an Artaigh chomh maith le peil ag leibhéal A, Corn Uí Mhuirí, agus mar sin bhí cothromaíocht idir an dá chód mar ghné thábhachtach den phleanáil i rith na bliana freisin.

Leag Paddy O’Gorman béim ar thábhacht na gclubanna, ag tabhairt le fios go raibh neart agus doimhneacht na gclubanna le feiscint ar an bpainéal, le roinnt imreoirí ó CLG na hUidhre, Port Láirge ina measc.

‘Tá neart clubanna againn sa scoil. Léiríodh i ngrianghraf a tógadh le déanaí de na himreoirí ina ngeansaithe club an éagsúlacht clubanna atá páirteach sa feachtas ar son na scoile’ a deir O’ Gorman.

Ag tógaint san áireamh cumhacht, neart, fuinneamh agus scil an dá fhoireann, is cinnte go mbeidh ócáid iontach againn ar an Satharn do Chorn Uí Mhuirí agus guímid gach rath ar na himreoirí óga a bheidh ar an bpáirc imeartha i Mala.

Go n-éirí leo.
